Faith Church is a serving church. With the help of those in the community, far more can be accomplished than we could do by ourselves. In CaringWorks! we invite people from the community, who are not a part of Faith Church, to work alongside us. Everyone is invited to help!

These are some of THIS YEAR’S CaringWorks! service opportunities:
• monthly Feed My Starving Children

• May 21 & 22, 2011 Community Days of Service

These are some CaringWorks! service opportunities we completed last year:
• July 20, 2010 Feed My Starving Children

We had a great time as 54 people of all ages—people from Faith Church and people from the community—worked together to package 44 boxes of “manna pack rice” meals, which is enough for 9,504 meals, or enough to feed 26 children for an entire year! While many participants had worked at Feed My Starving Children previously, a good number of people were there for the first time. Ordinarily Faith Church volunteers at Feed My Starving Children the second Tuesday of each month. When sign-ups are being accepted for our next food-packing event, we will post it under the “Community” menu on this website. We would love to have you sign up to work with us! It’s a great cause, and the more people who work, the more meals we can pack!

• August 14, 2010 ICA summer food drive

Thank you to all who participated in helping us collect food to replenish the supplies at ICA’s foodshelf!

• Sept 25, 2010 Community Days of Service
More than 100 people volunteered at four projects for the fall Community Day of Service! Many volunteers at one site worked with fabrics (making quilts for needy people in Haiti and Pakistan, ripping muslin pieces and rolling them for use overseas as bandages, and packaging hand-sewn baby layette pieces—clothing, blankets, washcloths and diapers—that function as a “baby shower in a package” for needy mothers overseas). At another site, people served the community by cleaning up the area along Minnehaha creek. Painting projects at Alice Smith School were another avenue of service. Yet another group picked up clothing for Resource West after flyers had been distributed to 175 homes the previous Thursday. Thank you to all who participated! We look forward to another Community Day of Service this spring that will include a wider variety of projects.

• Oct 16, 2010 Warm Winter Wear Collection
Anyone who missed the opportunity to participate in the winter warm wear clothing drive in the neighborhoods last month as a part of the Community Day of Service had an opportunity to bring their winter clothing for Resource West to the church for this clothing drive. We had a large box marked CaringWorks! near the church entrance for donations. We collected new and gently used “Winter Warm Wear” items.

If you’re someone from the community who would like to work with us on a CaringWorks! project and would like to talk to someone about it, please phone the Faith Church office at 952.935.4481 and ask to have someone from CaringWorks! return your call. You can check the “Community” menu on our website at any time for upcoming opportunities to work to help others in a variety of ways. The public is invited to work alongside us in all of those projects. THANK YOU for your willingness to help!
