The eight participants from Faith Church reported an “atmosphere and attitude of Christ’s love” as they experienced the culture and struggles of the mountain people in Kentucky.

The adult summer mission trip was July 17-25, 2010 to Appalachia  (in the Staffordsville, KY area) through Good Neighbors, Inc., a ministry to the working poor “Repairing Homes, Restoring Hope.”  Thanks to the support of our Members in Mission fund, the participation fee was reduced from $425.00 to only $175.  This initial cost included meals, lodging at a church in Paintsville, Ky, and funding to help purchase materials needed for their restoration projects. The shared cost for the participants four-day drive to and from Kentucky was an additional $142.00.

The slide show below shows some of the trailer home restoration projects, as well as the VBS work and cultural experiences of the Appalachia mission team. Pastor Buck Day led a slide show and discussion about the trip after worship on Sunday, August 15.
