1. The session approved a statement in response to the denomination passing amendment 10-A.
Since “amendment 10-A” has been approved by a majority of the presbyteries, it will take effect July 10, 2011. This amendment removes from the Book of Order the explicit “fidelity/chastity” requirement for deacons, elders and ministers, which is currently found in section G-6.0106b. The session of Faith Church approved a statement describing the session’s position on leadership in our congregation. This statement will be available at the Information Desk.
2. The session reviewed progress on the Renewing Faith Action Plans.
The session went through the Renewing Faith Action Plans, with the person responsible for each Plan giving it a green light (everything is on-track), yellow light (behind schedule, but no major obstacles), or red light (obstacle has been encountered). Only two Plans had “red lights.” The obstacles were described and the next steps to work around the obstacles were determined.
3. The session approved a budget for the July 1, 2011 through June 30, 2012 fiscal year.
Because a number of people increased their pledge or made a new pledge in response to the session’s request, the session was able to increase the projected income for the coming fiscal year by $10,000, bringing the total projected income to $755,500. The session went through each line item of the disbursements part of the budget, changing proposed allocations to accommodate fixed expenses and to prioritize other spending. A balanced budget with $755,500 in expenditures was approved
