1. Faith Church ended the Jan-June 2011 transitional fiscal with a positive balance of about $38,000.
The 6-month transitional fiscal year (Jan-June 2011) ended with a positive balance in the $36,000 to $40,000 range (final figure to be determined). This was a result of both higher-than-projected giving and lower-than-projected expenditures. Thank you to everyone for your faithful giving!
2. Sunday worship will be at 10:15 am beginning Sept 11 (the Sunday after Labor Day).
After considerable discussion and exploration of alternatives, the session voted to have the Sunday morning schedule starting Sept 11 be an education hour from 9:00 am to 10:00 am and worship from 10:15 am to 11:15 am. The primary reason for the 15-minute change in worship time is that allowing a full hour for education (for both children and adults) is a better fit for most curricula and allows time for the class to discuss and interact with the material presented. Families with young children expressed a desire to not have an earlier start time for Sunday School. This 15-minute shift in worship time should help us accommodate the needs of families with young children while allowing us to increase our emphasis on education by providing more in-depth classes for both children and adults.
3. This fall we will have separate pledges for the “mission budget” and for the “general budget.”
In early November, we will focus on learning about the ministries of the two organizations that our Mission Committee has selected for emphasis in our mission giving. People will then have an opportunity to make a pledge that will be designated for support of our Mission Budget. Later in November, we will focus on stewardship as an aspect of discipleship. This focus will be followed by an opportunity to make a pledge for the General Budget.
