1. Two guests from our presbytery’s Committee on Ministry visited our meeting.
Although it is no longer required, our presbytery is continuing to conduct routine triennial visits with all sessions. Sue Rutford and Jerry Ganfield, who are members of the presbytery’s Committee on Ministry, visited our meeting for the purpose of conducting our triennial review and building relationships. They had previously sent a list of the questions they would ask and session members responded to the questions, telling about the ministries of our church.

2. The purpose of the “Celebration Sunday” event was discussed.
Our “Celebration Sunday” event on September 18 will have a different focus than our previous “Ministry Fairs.” Instead of being a “recruiting” event, the focus is on helping people from our church realize the scope of ministries and activities we offer. People are encouraged to visit tables for ministries they are not connected with. Those without children are encouraged to see what we offer in Children’s Ministry and Youth Ministry. Those who are deeply involved in Children’s Ministry are encouraged to find out what our Stephen Ministry program is about, etc.

3. Our “Renewing Faith” strategic plan was reviewed and adjusted.
Our current documents were reviewed and some readjustments were made. Target percentages for two objectives were revised to be more attainable, yet challenging, goals. The new target is to increase worship attendance, Sunday School and Youth program participation by 25% by June 30, 2012 compared with the baseline December 31, 2010. The new target for giving is to increase Mission and General giving by 10% for the year ending December 31, 2012 compared to the baseline of the year ending December 31, 2011.
