“Fellowship of Presbyterians”

Sundays January 8, January 15 and February 5 at 9:00 am, Pastor Buck talked about changes in our denomination and about the Fellowship of Presbyterians.
Click below to see a handout from the January 8 class. This shows four different “tiers” presented at the Fellowship meeting last August as possible ways to relate to the Fellowship based on the individual church’s setting.

At this point there are two options for new affiliation that a congregation could pursue. The third option is for a congregation to have no relationship to the Fellowship. The options are:
(1) [blue-shaded area within yellow PCUSA circle] Affiliate with the Fellowship as a ministry association. This involves no change in status with the PC(USA) denomination.
(2) [in green circle] Join the ECO denomination as full members. This would require dismissal from the PC(USA) denomination.
(3) [in yellow circle, not in overlapping blue area] Stay in the PC(USA) denomination and have no relationship with the Fellowship.
Below is a 3-part article from the blog of PCUSA pastor Mark D. Roberts.
Dr. Roberts is Senior Advisor and “Theologian in Residence” of Foundations for Laity Renewal. He is also the author of several books and dozens of articles. He serves as a retreat leader, speaker, and has taught classes in New Testament for Fuller Theological Seminary and San Francisco Theological Seminary.

These are the two parts of the constitution of our denomination:
Part 1: Book of Confessions
Part 2: Book of Order 2011-2013
Note: If you have a copy of a Book of Order older than the “2011-2013″ edition, it is no longer current. In July 2011 the “G” (“Form of Government”) section was replaced by entirely rewritten contents.
