Second Halfers began 2011 with a theater outing to the Old Log Theater for lunch and the matinee performance of Jeeves in Bloom on Sunday, January 16, 2011. Mardell Sluka coordinated the event.

The next event on the 2011 calendar was a “Czech Heritage Tour” to New Prague on Wednesday, March 30, 2011. It included lunch at the Schumacher Grill 212 Restaurant, a stop at a Czech bakery, a tour of St. Wenceslaus Church and more.

On Wednesday, May 18, we boarded the Osceola train and departed for a colorful trip back in time. During the two-hour ride, we enjoyed a wonderful lunch while traveling high on the bluffs and seeing the beautiful woodland full of wildlife in the backwaters. The cost per person was $63. On Wednesday, June 8 at 5:30 pm we enjoyed our annual potluck picnic. This year it was at the party room at St. Alban’s Mill, 3000 St. Alban’s Mill Road (between Plymouth Road and Hopkins Crossroads in Minnetonka). People brought a dish to share. Beverages were provided. The picnic was organized by Annette Greer and Carolyn Larson.

After taking a break over the summer, Second Halfers kicked off the fall program year with a day trip to Duluth on Tuesday, September 27. The following were highlights of the day: deluxe coach, lunch at The Original Grandma’s Restaurant (choice of entrees), a two-hour, narrated cruise in the Duluth harbor, and a stop at the famous Tobie’s on the way home (on your own), all for just $66 per person!

Our annual Fall Potluck and Planning Evening was held Saturday, October 22 at 5:30 pm at Faith. It was a fun time with good food and lots of ideas for the next year’s adventures!

Offering hospitality to Faith Church’s guests, we hosted a reception following An Evening in December, the choir’s annual Christmas concert on Sunday, December 4. We have supported the program in this way for a number of years, and were pleased to do so again.
