At our Lenten offering we collected approximately $3,800 to be applied to an
AIDS ministry in Africa.  For $25 per kit, a volunteer worker in Africa or
other AIDS ravaged community can be equipped to provide comfort care to
someone suffering from AIDS. This kit has medical supplies and medicine that
can be used to help someone with AIDS.

With these funds, we were able to purchase enough supplies to build 150
kits.  On October 14, the Faith Choir, assisted by Worship and Music
Committee and others, assembled these kits and packed them for shipment.
Each kit contained a personal note of encouragement that was written to the
volunteer care worker who will use the kit.   It took about an hour to pack
and 30 minutes to get the kits ready for shipment.  Now these kits are on
their way, most probably to a rural community in Africa, where they will be
used to care for someone suffering or dying of complications due to AIDS.
It took one special offering, about 40 people, and ninety minutes to do
that.   What a great experience it was for those that helped get these kits
ready for shipment.
